Dr Susan Bell is a General, Breast and Endocrine Surgeon with a special interest in oncoplastic breast surgery. Originally from the Netherlands, Dr Bell completed medical school in 2003 and worked in Utrecht as a junior doctor. In 2006, she relocated to Australia and was subsequently accepted into the Queensland General Surgical training program, which she completed in 2014 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. During her surgical training years, Dr Bell developed an interest in Breast and Endocrine surgery and pursued a further 2 years Post-Fellowship training with BreastSurgANZ, gaining additional experience in oncoplastic breast surgery as well as endocrine surgery. Her first fellowship year took place at the Mater Hospital Brisbane, under supervision of Prof Chris Pyke. This was followed by an interstate fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, regarded as one of the leading centres in advanced oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery. Since returning to Brisbane, Dr Bell fulfilled several locum positions at Mater Hospital Brisbane and the Princess Alexandra Hospital before accepting a permanent position at Ipswich Hospital in 2018. Dr Bell is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, where she fulfils her passion in teaching medical students. She also holds an appointment at BreastScreen QLD and is a senior instructor on the ASSET (surgical skills) course for aspiring surgical trainees.

Professor Ian Bennett is a Breast and Endocrine Surgeon in Brisbane, Australia, and is currently the Chairman of the Breast and Endocrine Surgical Unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital, and is a Senior Visiting Surgeon to both the Brisbane North and Brisbane South BreastScreen Queensland services. He is also the Chairman of the Brisbane Metro South Breast Cancer Institute Advisory Committee, and is a member of a number of advisory committees for Breast Screen Qld including the Quality Management Committee and the State Monitoring Committee. He is the Surgical Director of both the North Brisbane Family History Clinic and the Princess Alexandra Hospital Familial Breast Cancer Clinic. He is a Professor in Surgery at University of Queensland and is a recent former Councillor of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (2010-2016). Professor Bennett has a long held clinical and research interest in surgeon –performed ultrasound and has been a curriculum advisor to the Australian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) for more than 15 years, and is a current member of the ASUM Certificate of Clinical Performed Ultrasound (CCPU) Accreditation Board. Professor Bennett holds positions on a number of other committees: he is the Chairman of the Wesley Hospital Breast & Endocrine Craft Group; Chairman of BreastScreen Qld Surgery Q Group; Chairman of RACS Research & Evaluation (incorporating ASERNIPS) Committee; and he is also a member of Evaluation Sub Committee (ESC) of Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC). Professor Bennett is involved in collaborative clinically based research at the Translational Research Institute Australia at Princess Alexandra Hospital. He has received over $1M in research grants and has over 70 publications in scientific medical journals, and has particular research interests in surgeon –performed ultrasound, utilization of intra-operative ultrasound in breast surgery, vacuum assisted excision of breast lesions, familial breast cancer, investigating infective causes of breast cancer, magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) of the breast.

Dr Matthew Binks is a breast cancer surgeon operating at Orange Health Service, Dudley Private Hospital, Ramsay Surgical Centre and Mudgee District Hospital. Dr Budhavaram (Bud) is an accomplished specialist breast and general surgeon. Chilton is a registered member of both Breast Surgeons of Australia & New Zealand and Australian and New Zealand Endocrine Surgeons professional societies. ​ Chilton graduated with honours from the University of Melbourne Medical School in 2003 (MBBS Hons) and is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He was one of the first graduates of the two-year BreastSurgANZ post-fellowship training program, the peak accrediting body for breast surgeons in Australia and New Zealand. Chilton was also made adjunct lecturer with the Monash University Department of Surgery and also a visiting surgeon with BreastScreen Victoria. That same year he was awarded the John Collins Fellow Medal and Travel Grant by the ANZ Breast Cancer Trials Group. ​ Chilton operates in the private sector at Waverley Private Hospital (Mt Waverley), Mulgrave Private Hospital (Mulgrave), Holmesglen Private Hospital (Moorabbin) and St John of God Hospital Berwick. ​ Chilton offers his patients the latest techniques in breast cancer surgery. He introduced to Victoria the practice-changing use of radio-iodine seeds so that women no longer need traditional hookwires to locate tiny breast cancers for removal at surgery. Chilton also performs operations where patient radiotherapy is all performed at the time of their surgery under the one anaesthetic, saving patients weeks of radiation afterwards (intraoperative radiotherapy, IORT).

I am a senior, specialist breast surgeon, whose practice is fully dedicated to the care of patients with breast disease. I have extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of breast cancer and benign breast conditions such as fibroadenomas, phyllodes tumours, breast cysts, nipple discharge and breast abscess. Dr Railya Mousina is a Specialist Breast and General Surgeon in Sydney. She is a VMO Surgeon at Breastscreen NSW and operates at Strathfield Private and Prince of Wales Private Hospitals. Dr Mousina commenced her junior doctor training at Prince of Wales & St. Vincent’s Hospital network in 2009. Subsequently she started specialist training in General Surgery in 2012 and obtained her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2017. During this time Dr Mousina also worked in the breast unit at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse where she cemented her interest in oncoplastic breast surgery and breast reconstruction. Dr Mousina commenced postgraduate BreastSurgANZ fellowship training in breast surgery at the Mater, Hornsby, Northern Beaches and Royal North Shore hospitals in 2019. During this time she also worked as a Melanoma Fellow at the Melanoma Institute of Australia. Dr Andrew Russell was originally a Brisbane boy, schooled at Nudgee College and obtained his medical degree at the University of Queensland Medical School. He undertook his advanced surgical training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, with a one-year rotation to Rockhampton Hospital (1986), where he met and subsequently married his beautiful wife, Frances. They raised their three children Alex, Dominic and Georgiana here and are heavily involved in their local community. He has built a large, busy private surgical practice at the Mater Hospital being a General Surgeon with extensive experience in Laparoscopic Surgery, Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy and also Weight Loss Surgery, which he has practised since 1998. After achieving his FRACS in General Surgery, James undertook sub-specialty post-fellowship training in Breast & Endocrine Surgery at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane (2021) and completed BreastSurgANZ Post-Fellowship Training, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide (2022) and Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth (2023). As an Australia-trained breast, endocrine, and general surgeon, Associate Professor Simon Tsao has a wealth of surgical and research experience.
