Position Description

Gosford hospital is a major teaching hospital located in central coast of New South Wales 40 kms north of Sydney. It services a population of over 300,000 and the region treats over 300 new breast cancer cases per year.

The fellow will have access to 7 full day public lists per month. The successful applicant will have exposure to a breadth of breast, endocrine and general surgical experience.

This is a 1 FTE position. The oncall commitments include 2.5 days ASU general surgical on call per fortnight in the role of a junior consultant and 1 day per week of teaching/ research commitment in conjunction with the University of Newcastle.

Summary Hospital Information

Breast Oncoplastic Surgery:

Yes: Level 1 (round block, batwing & mamoplasty) and Level 2 oncoplastic procedures including perforator flaps (wise pattern & therapeutic mammoplasty)

Breast Reconstruction Surgery:

Yes: > 60 per annum including LD flap, skin sparing mastectomy, implant based reconstruction, autologous fat grafting

General and Other Surgery:

Yes: General Surgery > 130 per annum; Endocrine: ~ 30 per annum; Melanoma: ~ 7 per annum

Breakdown of hours:

Participation in on-call: 2.5 days per fortnight. No weekend on-call.

Private Consulting:

One day per fortnight in private rooms, consulting on own

MDT:

Yes. Breast: fortnightly, Role of Fellow: Presentation | Endocrine: monthly, Role of Fellow: presentation involved | Skin: fortnightly, Role of Fellow: presentation involved

Academic & Research:

One day per week dedicated to teaching and research. Teaching commitment 3 hours per week. Available to take up position as conjoint lecturer in University of Newcastle

Funded:

Yes. One (1) year Full Time Equivalent role commencing early February 2027

Salary:

Position Classification: Junior Consultant | Base Salary: $216,339; Allowances and Loadings: Private Assisting ~ $12,000 p/a
